Guide updated 18 October 2026 to cover the current gift, party-menu and styling features, with our refreshed branding.

A gift feels more personal when the shopper chooses what goes inside. A party menu is easier to plan when customers can make the right choices for their guests. Kit Builder turns products from your Wix Stores catalogue into guided gift boxes, hampers, kits and party menus.

I'm Mark Evans at Insomnia I.T. Systems, the developer of Kit Builder. You choose the products, quantity rules and presentation; shoppers make their selections, add a note and review the Product/Qty summary before continuing to your shop's normal cart.

Fourteen-day free app trial where eligible. Wix shows the current monthly or annual price, local currency, taxes and renewal terms before you confirm.

Their choices. Your products.

  • Use your existing store products and supported variants, with a running subtotal as shoppers choose.

  • Organise products into groups and set quantity rules for gifts, kits or party menus.

  • Match heading and body fonts, text sizes, colours and labels to your site, and let shoppers add a personal message.

Build a menu around the number of guests

For party menus, set your own guest minimum, maximum and increments. Configure groups to use per-person quantities, a fixed total or a number of distinct choices, with product increments where needed. The 2–12 people shown in one demonstration is an example configuration, not an app-wide guest limit.

A menu's base product can be priced for a set number of people. Choose that pricing unit to match your offer, then account for separately priced components and extras. The app uses your native product and variant prices; it does not apply a bundle discount.

Make the builder feel part of your website

Choose separate heading and body fonts from the available device-font options, then adjust text sizes, colours, headings and labels. You can also change rounded corners and image fit, and use expandable product descriptions. These controls do not include uploading arbitrary fonts.

The current app also improves loading after product edits when product and variant catalogue data are temporarily out of sync. The screenshots in this guide show the original sample gift workflow; they are not demonstrations of every menu or styling setting.

How the gift builder works

1. Prepare the packaging and products

Choose the packaging product and the items customers can put inside. Each packaging product needs an existing optional native text field with no surcharge, which you select in the builder settings.

2. Set your choices and quantity rules

Choose products from your catalogue, organise groups and set the allowed quantities. These rules count items; they do not calculate physical packing, weight or shipping suitability.

3. Let shoppers make it personal

Shoppers choose their contents, select supported variants and add an optional gift message. A gift reference, contents summary and message travel together in the selected packaging field.

The personalisation screen with a fictional message. Available message space depends on the selected field and the other gift details.

4. Continue to your shop's cart

Current prices and stock are checked before adding. The packaging and components enter the native Wix cart as separate items. Linked party selections have cart and checkout checks that flag changed or incomplete menus. Stock is not reserved; checkout confirms shipping, taxes and the final payable amount.

Check these setup requirements

  • Wix Stores and Wix CMS, plus a Wix plan supporting the commerce features you use.

  • Physical products with no options or individually managed variants.

  • An existing optional, zero-surcharge native text field on each packaging or party product. Party-product fields must be named Kit details.

  • Enough field capacity for the complete reference, contents and message together, up to 500 characters.

  • An eligible trial or active app plan for new kit additions.

Other required customisations, preorders and recurring subscriptions are unsupported. Test your configured builder, cart, orders and fulfilment display before offering it to shoppers.

Common questions

Is a kit a single locked bundle?

No. Products remain separate native cart lines. For linked party menus, the app flags changed or incomplete selections in the cart and checkout so the customer can correct them. Ordinary gift components remain individually editable, and editing them in the cart may leave the packaging field's original contents summary out of date.

Can customers choose variants and add a message?

Supported individually managed variants are available. The optional message shares the packaging field with a gift reference and contents summary. If the complete details will not fit, the shopper must shorten the message or change the selection before adding.

Does the app discount the bundle or reserve stock?

No. It uses native product prices, does not apply a bundle discount and does not reserve stock. Keep your normal pricing and stock processes in place.

Will my fulfilment service understand the gift details?

Gift details are passed to the native packaging cart line. Check how your orders and fulfilment tools display that field; automatic interpretation by every external service is not guaranteed.
